Classical Mediterranean Mathematics

Mathematics – as in the study of quantity, space, time and change – has a storied history in the Mediterranean world. Starting in the ancient and sophisticated civilisations of Mesopotamia and Egypt before realising even greater levels of abstraction in Greece and the Hellenistic world. It is on this classical foundation that Medieval Christian and Islamic mathematical advances were based.
