An Introduction to Classical Mediterranean Thought

Stretching from some of the earliest recorded urban and literate cultures in the near east, through the emergence of the hugely influential Persian Empire and Greek City-states and into the rise and fall of the Hellenic empires, the classical Mediterranean worlds influence on Christian, Islamic and modern “Western” thought is hard to under-state. Whether it be the maths and astronomy founded in Babylon and Egypt, the emergence of monotheism in Judah or the Platonic and Aristotelian schools which emerged from Athens, the intellectual vitality of this stage of human history is breathtaking.
