Jia Yi – Critic of the Qin

Born sometime around 200 BCE Jia Yi was a prolific author and powerful – if occasionally out of favour – court official. In his essays, he critiqued the harsh Legalism inspired practices of the Qin. He considered the collapse of China’s first Empire to have been caused by their failure to account for the innate potential of the masses.
